Event Location:

Webinar 1 - 2 p.m. CT

This presentation will introduce the resources offered through the University of Illinois at Chicago’s ENGAGE-IL an interprofessional, collaborative education and practice initiative to enhance care of older adults. The education and training materials are intended to enhance the ability and skills of healthcare providers and empower patients and caregivers to optimize patient- and family-centered care for the growing older adult population in urban and rural Illinois, the nation, and globally. The goal of the sustainable online Interprofessional (IP) Geriatric Program is to expand health professionals’ knowledge and competence integrating geriatrics into primary care, preparing clinicians to work in IP teams and provide high-quality, patient-centered care to older adults. Ways how health care providers and caregivers can benefit from these resources and help improve health outcomes of older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
1. Define Brain Health Across the Lifespan.

2. Describe the role of Engage-IL as a Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) to increase access to care and improve health outcomes for older adults with IDD.

3. Introduce the Engage-IL 27 online education modules including the new modules specific for people with IDD and describe who can benefit from taking these modules, and how they can help to improve health outcomes of older adults with IDD.

4. Review ENGAGE-IL strategies that can maximize engagement by people with IDD and their supports in Brain Health strategies.
